Watching Masterchef Australia, I was mesmerized with a recipe called Tarte Tatin. While watching the show, I thought of baking the tart. Yummy!





Firstly, just a brief description about Tarte Tatin.


Tarte Tatin (French pronunciation: [taʁt tatɛ̃]) is an upside-down tart in which the fruit (usually apples) are caramelized in butter and sugar before the tart is baked. From Wikipedia

A lot of conflicting stories concerning the tart's origin. Thought of writing it down here, but well I guess I just don't bother about it. Hee

Port Dickson aka Pelabuhan Dickson

Location: Malaysia

Exact Location: Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan

I'd went for a couple of trips to the beach here. For me, I don't suggest you guys to go here on weekends or on school holidays. The crowd would be huge! For some, maybe this is actually great but when it comes to traffic jam, I bet this will become your biggest nightmare. Even walking is quicker than driving. =.=' 

Anyway, like any other beach in the world, you can do a lot of recreational activities here such as sun bathing, swimming, riding banana boat, jet skiing, or maybe just walking along the beach etc. However, Port Dickson is not a good spot if you want to go snorkelling. I can bet you on this. You'll be disappointed. 

It is best if you guys want to go snorkelling or diving, please choose beaches which are located at the east of Malaysia. The corals are magnificent. Trust me. Been there done that ^_^ (will blog about this later)

Pro-Common Sense

AHA! 

This is VERY INTERESTING. I watched this video posted by Anwar Hadi. Well, I guess what he said is very true. I do not want to talk or discuss on the issue he brought up (ni lantak pi lah..hehe), just the main agenda which is Common Sense.

Sometimes, some of us are too carried away by our emotion that we can not really think what is right & what is wrong, and worst we can not even use our common sense.

Firstly, what is 'common sense'?

Common sense is defined by Merriam-Webster as, "sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts."^[1] Thus, "common sense" (in this view) equates to the knowledge and experience which most people already have, or which the person using the term believes that they do or should have. Quality Manager

Browsing around the net, I bumped into a very good entry on managerial quality. Not being to formal on "how-to-manage", his writings touched on being appreciative on others' hard work. For me, it is very inspiring. Lesson for me and for everyone. He had also included a very good story as an example. One, young, academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.

He passed the first interview. The director who did the last interview, made the last decision.

The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research. He never had a year when he did not score.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" The youth answered "none".

The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old. It was my mother who paid for my school fees."

The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as a clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

The director asked, " Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?" The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than me."

The director said, "I have a request. When you go back today, go and clean your mother's hands and then see me tomorrow morning."

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back, he happily requested his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to her son.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tears fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled and that there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother shivered when they were cleaned with water.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes every day to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation, academic excellence and his future.

After finishing the cleaning of his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes and asked, " Can you tell me what you did and learned yesterday in your house?"

The youth answered, " I cleaned my mother's hands, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes.'

The Director asked, " Please tell me your feelings."

The youth said, Number 1, I know now the meaning of appreciation. Without my mother, there would not be the successful me today. Number 2, by working together and helping my mother, only now I realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done. Number 3, I have come to appreciate the importance and value of family relationship.

The director said, " This is what I am looking for in my new manager.

I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life. Son,you are hired."

Later on, this young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and as a team. The company's performance improved tremendously.

Guys, being a boss does not gives you the license to be bossy. Note that your success is sums of small efforts put by others and you. Please be appreciative.

PTPTN Calculation

Today nak cakap pasal PTPTN (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional). There are a lot of question marks on how they calculate the loans. Ingatkan 'bunga' 3% tapi bila calculate back..eh eh..Kenapa lebih? And to show you guys that I am resourceful, so I googled up the PTPTN website. YES! they do show how they calculate the loans. BUT....

Do I need all these worms just to calculate my loan??! Hermm...

Again, to be resourceful, I tried to google other websites. Mayyyybeee there's someone who are clever enough to transform the worms into something that I can digest.

Self Motivation

I've read a lot on self motivation, self help and self confidence articles. 

Yeah, there are times when you feel you're weakened by the sayings from all those around you or you feel defeated or maybe incapable etc...in short, feeling NEGATIVE. Therefore, not to be carried away by these negativity, sometimes you need something to just give yourself a boost of self positivity.

Anyway we together dah gave each other strength to just go on and be strong. Atleast that's what i think. Well that's what i felt that day and feel today. Time to get emotional.hehe

Homemade Pretzel with Caramel Dip

Last night tiba-tiba rasa nak makan pretzel. Nak keluar beli Auntie Anne's sangatlah malas. 

So, I was thinking why not I make the pretzel myself. Hehe. Dapat banyak with half the cost. Though you have to sweat a little bit but well I guess..worth it.
